THE CAT IN THE HAT brings clever new tricks to SUMMER THEATRE of NEW CANAAN’s 2013 Theatre Festival Season in Waveny Park

Dr. Suess's THE CAT IN THE HAT has opened at the Summer Theatre of New Canaan (STONC) 2013 Theatre Festival in Waveny Park.  As part of the young audience program, THE CAT IN THE HAT will run in "rep" (rotation) with our their other professional children's shows,  PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL beginning July 13, and The Little Mermaid, Jr., now playing. THE CAT IN THE HAT performances are scheduled weekends through August 11. For specific dates and show times, please visit www.stonc.org.

Base on the popular early reader book by Dr. Seuss,   THE CAT IN THE HAT is a lively, engaging play with sound effects" performed by adults for young children. The Cat brings a cheerful, exotic and exuberant  form of chaos to a young brother and sister one rainy day while their mother is out.  The Cat performs sensational tricks, including balancing a teacup, milk, a cake, three books, the Fish, a rake, a toy boat, a red fan and his umbrella while teetering on a ball. The Cat opens a crate to reveal two creatures, Thing One and Thing Two, who fly kites in the house.  The Cat's antics are vainly opposed by the family pet, an articulate fish.  Sally and her brother, Boy, prove model children by capturing the Things with a net and bringing the Cat under control.  To make up for the commotion he has caused, the cat cleans up the house and disappears seconds before mother arrives home.  The mother asks what the children did while she was out, and the  story ends with the question, "What would you do if your mother asked you"?

Not a word has been touched or added to Dr. Seuss's classic, ensuring anyone who sees this story will find themselves transported into the world they've always imagined.
The Cat in the Hat features Patrick Berger (Cat in the Hat), Virginia Ogden of Greenwich (Sally), Chase Jansen of New Canaan (Boy), Kellen Schutz of Ansonia (Fish), Grace Hardin of Ridgefield (Thing 1), Jennifer Margulis (Thing 2), and Mike Greggs (Narrator).
