High School Students can change the world - Start now!

The New Canaan Community Foundation offers a unique opportunity for high school age residents of New Canaan to learn to make a difference in our community, now and in the future.

Applications are now being accepted for New Canaan Community Foundation's 2012-2013 Young Philanthropists Fund program!  The participation form is available on our website (www.newcanaancf.org) for high school aged New Canaan residents interested in joining the Fund's Steering Committee for the upcoming academic year. This is a unique opportunity for high school students to learn about non-profit organizations, the services they provide and how they are supported.  Participants will work in a group to establish a conceptual framework for investing in important community resources, review grant requests from local organizations, and help make decisions about making grant funding to the non-profits.  Members also learn about development efforts by engaging in fundraising activities.  The program consists of evening meetings once a month during school year, at area non-profit locations.  It is an excellent complement to direct community service work.  Call or email me for more information - 966-0231 or cgorey@newcanaancf.org
