Health Food For Kids! Take a vegetable to school!
It's important that we all eat healthily, the connection between healthy eating and disease is well established.
For our kids, this is even more important: healthy eating not only affects their risk of illness in childhood (diabetes, asthma, inflammatory diseases) and can reduce the suffering from other conditions such as ADHD but also affects their life long risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer and dementia.
Today is Food Revolution Day, the second annual day of healthy food awareness, started by Jamie Oliver. Today New Canaan Food Revolution Day ask you to give your children one extra portion of healthy food! Maybe a handful of carrots, a stick of celery, a banana or some deliciously sweet cherry tomatos.
Food Revolution Day is the culmination of Jamie's campaign to get people better connected to their food. On Friday May 17th communities across the world will come together and celebrate the beautiful diversity of fresh food, sharing cooking skills, understanding good eating habits and, of course, eating great grub. From Australia to America and India to Brazil, street markets, cooking demos and fundraisers in schools, hospitals and gardens will be buzzing with Food Revolution Day magic.
