$200,000 in Jewelry Recovered, Found in New Canaan Home

A story reported Monday from the New Canaan Police Department about $200,000 worth of jewelry being stolen was updated by authorities Tuesday morning who said the case had been resolved.

A 54-year-old woman reported to authorities that sometime between June 2 and June 10, $200,000 in jewelry had gone missing from her Avalon Drive East residence, including a $50,000 necklace and several other items valued at $10,000 each. Tuesday afternoon, police announced the jewelry had all been recovered.

"The complainant discovered the missing jewelry in a different location from where she normally kept it, but in the same room," Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said Tuesday. "It was all accounted for and the resident said she very well may have moved it and forgotten where she had put it."

Ogrinc said they are now cleared of their involvement with the case.
