A Roundup of New Canaan's Top News this Week
In case you missed something, New Canaan Patch wants to help you play catch up!
Here's a look at some of the top stories from New Canaan this week:
- In New Canaan Library news, Head of IT Jeff Zaino touted the library's new wireless network, which has been upgraded to handle up to 1,000 internet connections at once, a vast improvement over the previous 300. This should be a huge help in high-stress times with massive power outages like a hurricane. The Library Association also announced the time and date for their annual business meeting, which is open to the public, as 7 p.m. on July 9.
- In Police news, a woman who thought she'd had $200,000 in jewelry stolen from her Avalon Drive East home ended up discovering the jewelry had been placed in an area of the same room, in a place she didn't normally keep the jewelry. A teen also reported having her iPhone stolen off her desk at New Canaan High School when she left it out in the open and went to use the restroom.
- In Business news, a New Canaan couple who had been operating Kouzina said "thank you" to the community for their support after closing the doors to the restaurant to focus on family. Tony's Deli on Pine Street has moved, but not far! They're now located directly across the street.
- And finally, in Sports news, a New Canaan all-star was one of the six newest additions to the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame. Congratulations.
