A New Canaan motor vehicle stop led to a narcotics violation for a Bridgeport teen earlier this month when a car with no front license plate was allegedly found to have marijuana in the glove box, police said this week.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on New Norwalk Road, spotted the missing license plate and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Wednesday, July 17.

As the officer spoke with the operator, Ogrinc said he noticed the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The operator, identified by Ogrince as Sean McNamara, 19, of 375 Silver Street in Bridgeport, allegedly told the officer there were no drugs in the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a container in the glove box with three baggies containing marijuana, Ogrinc said.

McNamarawas issued a misdemeanor summons for possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, for having the container which was alleged to have been used to attempt to mask the scent of the drugs. He was released on a Promise To Appear and issued a court date of July 25.
