Bridgeport Diocese: May Take 8 Months to Install New Bishop

A group of "consultors" will meet on Friday to choose a temporary administrator, according to the Connecticut Post.

As prepares to be formally installed as the 16th Archbishop of Baltimore on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Diocese of Bridgeport says it may take up to eight months or more to announce his replacement, according to the Connecticut Post.

Brian Wallace told the Post that "the church works in its own time" and it waited until Bishop Lori permanently left Bridgeport before meeting to choose a temporary administrator. A group of "consulters" will meet on Friday.

Three individuals — Monsignor Jerald Doyle, Chancellor Anne O. McCrory and Monsignor Kevin Royal — are currently in charge of the diocese's daily operations and Wallace said that there is a good chance Doyle will be chosen as temporary administrator.

Wallace added that Bishop Lori's successor will most likely be an auxiliary bishop currently serving in other dioceses and a ranked list of three candidates would be sent to the Vatican.

Bishop Lori is scheduled to be installed during a Mass at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore at 2 p.m. and 2,000 people are expected to attend.

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

New Canaan hockey players are better off playing at Sono, Ridgefield or Stamford Youth Hockey.
