Collapsed Kiosk at Waveny to be Removed

Parks officials say the wood structure, which came down during a winter storm last month (don't call it "Nemo"), had been installed when a pay phone was removed from the spot some years ago.

Town officials say they likely will remove the kiosk which sits alongside the crest of the main road through Waveny.

The wooden kiosk near the castle—which included a bulletin board where residents may find lost dog, services available or event postings—came down during the winter storm that struck New Canaan Feb. 8, said Steve Benko, New Canaan’s recreation director.

“We may replace it, but for now we’re going to take it down,” Benko said.

The kiosk went up after a payphone that used to sit in that spot was removed some years ago, he said.
