Five Things to Know About New Canaan: July 14

It's almost Village Fair and Sidewalk Sale time!

  1. A quick reminder that you can pay your taxes on-line. Just follow this link and the simple instructions.
  2. Get ready for some deals! New Canaan’s annual Village Fair and Sidewalk Sale will be held Saturday, July 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. come rain or shine. Sponsored by the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce there will be outside dining, music, kids events and much more.
  3. Folktale Readers Theatre, Monday, July 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the Children's Room of the You and your friends can act out your favorite folktales for all to see. Maybe a little Three Billy Goats Gruff? Grades 3-5, registration is required.
  4. Sunset lectures at Sherwood Island continue. The Friends of Sherwood Island State Park host a lecture series on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. in the Nature Center. This Thursday, July 7 the subject is Biology and Control of Eastern Coyotes in Connecticut with guest speaker Chris Vann of the DEP Wildlife Division. The lecture, refreshments and snacks are free and so is the entrance fee to the park after 5:30 p.m.
  5. Head over to SoNo, 136 Washington Street on Tuesday, July 19 at 6:30 p.m. for , part of Norwalk 2.0 Summer of Art series in South Norwalk. You will sample authentic Indian cuisine and be treated to a screening of the 2001 Golden Globe nominated movie "Monsoon Wedding," directed by Mira Nair.
