Five Things to Know About New Canaan: June 27

Two concerts that will liven you up mid-week, plus more.

  1. Tonight at 6:30 p.m. there will be an Open House before the. You can speak with the planning team, view conceptual ideas, and give feedback. Tonight you will learn more about the master plan for the town facilities, including the library which is a private organization.
  2. Sunset lectures at Sherwood Island. The Friends of Sherwood Island State Park are hosting a lecture series on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. in the Nature Center. This Thursday, June 30 the subject is Piping Plovers and Least Terns: Endangered Species with guest speaker Laura Saucier from the DEP Wildlife Division. The lecture refreshments and snacks are free and so is the entrance fee to the park after 5:30 p.m.
  3. 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday enjoy the acoustic pop music of Doug Allen - sponsored by the - during the . As always pack some of your favorite snacks and refreshing beverages, take a seat on a blanket shared by friends and family and as always spray yourself with the delightful smell of summer bug spray.
  4. Keep rockin' on Thursday with the Legendary Leighton Brothers Band at , Norwalk from 5 to 7:30 p.m. They will perform songs by Van Morrison, War, Sly Stone, James Brown, Beatles, The Stones, Eric Clapton and more. Oh and did I mention it's Free? Rock on!
  5. This Friday the tent will be up at Saxe for . "Performances under the colorful red and white big-top tent include aerialists, dog and horse acts, jugglers, clowns and more!" Shows are at 3 and 6 p.m daily from July 1 through July 3.
