Five Things to Know About New Canaan: June 29

You can't pass up the deals at Frogtown Farms and Nursery plus much, much more!

  1. A reminder about town closings this Friday. Tax Collector's office open until 4:30 p.m. First Selectman's office open until 4:30 p.m. for the sale of Family 4th Passes. Park and Recreation Department at Waveny House open until 4:30 p.m. strictly for the sale of Family 4th Passes. All other Municipal offices are closing at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and will reopen again on Tuesday, July 5.
  2. The Ballet Etudes Company is performing "Highlights from the Ballet" at 7 p.m. tonight at the outdoor at . The evening's presentation will include excerpts from "Midsummer Night's Dream", "Sleeping Beauty", "Die Fledermaus" and a contemporary work, "Gabriel's Horn".  The 45 minute program will go on rain or shine and tickets are $10 at the door. Ballet Etudes Company dancers from New Canaan include: Jenna Michno, Haley Michno, Lauren Stewart, Anastasia Puglisi and Christine Petrus.
  3. It's time to register for the 2nd annual Spokes Ride. The event which benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, will begin at 8 a.m. on  Sunday, October 2. You have a choice of riding the 12, 20 or 50 mile bike route. Ride for yourself, someone you know or ride just because it is a great cause.
  4. Don't you just love those Summer Pop-Up Shops, well here is a new one opening July 5 at 172 Heights Road in Darien. "Find brand-new designer jeans, dresses, handbags, sunglasses and more. Open for only three weeks and closing its doors on July 24, 2011."
