Gas Prices Continue Dropping in June

Whether the trend will continue remains to be seen.

Gas prices in New Canaan and the rest of Connecticut continue dropping from the $4-plus highs of two months ago. According to the price tracking website GasBuddy.com, the average price per gallon in Connecticut is now $3.68.

A month ago, the average price was $3.95. Nationally, the average is now $3.53.

“While any gains in oil prices won’t likely be immediately felt, the debt situation in Europe bears keeping a close eye on as it has far reaching global implications,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst, in a statement.

He added, “Outside of that situation, West Coast wholesale gasoline prices are now among the lowest in the nation with California, Oregon, and Washington seeing their averages drop back under $4 a gallon, while the nation’s midsection may see prices rising in the week ahead.”

The lowest gas price in town listed by the New Canaan Commute section is $3.99 at the Mobil station 81-120 Merritt Pkwy southbound at the New Canaan Canteen West.
