The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for the state of CT with wind gusts of up to 55 mph possible at times. The winds are expected to begin at 3 a.m. Saturday morning and continue through Saturday night. A slight chance of snow is possible Saturday.
The current forecast indicates the potential for two peak wind periods -- from 4-10 a.m. Saturday morning, and again from 4-10 p.m. Saturday afternoon into evening.
The high winds are expected to cause a moderate number of power outages resulting from downed tree limbs. In addition, very cold air Saturday night may drop wind chills to near zero degrees Farenheit overnight.
Strong winds from the west and northwest will be generated by the pressure between an intensifying low pressure system in Maine combined with a strong high pressure system moving through the Great Lakes on Saturday.
