In Praise of Arts and Nature in New Canaan

The chair of a Trumbull committee charged with creating a Nature and Arts education center looks to New Canaan for insight into this town institutions.

While commenting on a from that originated on New Canaan Patch, a Trumbull resident who is chairing a commission whose mission is to establish an arts and education center in her town, reached out to New Canaan residents for insight about this town's organizations.

Pam Georgas wrote, "I would like to bring up a topic for discussion, that I think the fine folks of New Canaan might be able to help with. I chair a Trumbull Town commission that was charged with creating a self-funded (501c3) Nature & Arts education Center. We have been running Nature & Art programs for several years out of an old town owned building, but have grown to the point where we need to build a center to better accommodate the demand. Of course any change comes with controversy, and varying opinions."

As she noted, New Canaan has several non-profit organizations, which utilize town-owned land and provide entertainment and education in the arts and nature. , established in 1960, the , which was begun in 1977 and founded in 1946, offer classes, shows, exhibitions, children's camps and entertainment to residents of New Canaan and beyond.
