Live Music at New Canaan's Pop-Up Park Friday

If you haven't been out-and-about downtown over the weekends since summer kicked off, you might not know about the great little Pop-Up Park that appears Friday through Sunday evenings.

Going up at 6 p.m. Fridays, a little portion of South Avenue at the Elm Street intersection gets blocked off to traffic so citizens have a little room in the heart of downtown to jam with some live music, maybe participate in a spin class as part of the Healthy New Canaan Initiative or just grab some coffee. It's all about building a stronger community.

"Sometimes there's an activity going on," said Tucker Murphy of the New Canaan Chamber or Commerce. "This Friday we have music from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There isn't always, though. Sometimes it's just a nice spot to enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend or loved one."

The Pop-Up Park comes down Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. and things return to normal, but during the weekend, South Avenue belongs to the people!
