New Canaan Branch Delays Due To Stalled Train

Five New Canaan-bound trains were delayed Wednesday evening.

Cascading delays on Metro-North's New Canaan Branch Wednesday evening were caused by a train that stalled in the critical switching area in Stamford where trains are diverted to the New Canaan-bound track.

Five trains behind the "deadhead" train, which was carrying no passengers, arrived in New Canaan between six and 13 minutes late.

Some New Canaan-bound passengers were transferred at the 125th Street Station to get around the problem.
