One animal was euthanized because it appeared to be very sick, the other killed by a pair of dogs.

Police say they’re waiting on rabies testing results for two raccoons killed in New Canaan last week.

One animal was euthanized by New Canaan police because it appeared to be very sick, and another was killed by a pair of dogs, according to Officer Mary Ann Kleinschmitt of the New Canaan Police Department’s animal control unit.

The sick raccoon was spotted near 42 Clapboard Hill at 7:24 p.m. on Feb. 15. The other was killed at 203 Pocconock Trail at 11 p.m. on Feb. 17, Kleinschmitt said.

A virology lab in Hartford will send results to New Canaan police as soon as they’re in and Patch will update the story in the comments thread below when we get the results.
