New Canaan Schools: Decision on Friday to Come by 5:30 a.m.

The heavy snow isn't expected to hit New Canaan until Friday evening.

With a blizzard expected to dump nearly two feet of snow on New Canaan between Friday morning and Saturday afternoon, New Canaan schools officials say they’ll make a decision about school tomorrow by 5:30 a.m. Friday.

“Because of our location and geography, this call may once again be a challenging one due to the track and timing of the storm,” said an email from the district to public school parents. “The decision has to be made by 5:30 AM to allow sufficient time for buses and staff to respond.”

  • East School: 12 p.m.
  • West School: 12 p.m.
  • Saxe Middle School: 11:15 a.m.
  • New Canaan High School: 10:30 a.m.

“At this time the predictions still contain much variation,” the email said.
