PHOTOS: Signs of Spring in New Canaan?

Today, March 20, marks the first day of spring. New Canaan Patch looks at some iconic spots in town for signs of the new season.

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, spring starts with the Northern Hemisphere's vernal equinox at 7:02 a.m. Eastern today. A look around town tells a different story.

We've seen some unseasonably warm days since the fall, to be sure. And even if it doesn't feel like it, New Canaanites may feel eager to put the winter—and it's three storms—behind the town, and to put another season between Hurricane Sandy and now.

Do you have a crocus peeking up through the snow? Another photo that says "Spring Has Arrived"? Add them to this gallery by clicking "Upload Photos & Videos" and we'll be sure to feature them throughout the day Wednesday.

Spring !! what a joke...politely speaking. I am sorry but this AM i walked like a duck to my train..even so I slipped ALL over the place which I am sure made all of You very happy. Since You all like Winter so much I would love to see the expressions on all your faces when You are never able to have a picnic because the NWS and weatherman and this town want to make my life harder than it already is. Thanks so much :) Ummmm

Nice photos of the Glass House. Don't often get to see it in the Winter -- er, um -- Spring.

At least the our pool and spa are heated. Nothing like a little champagne, and then doing jumping in the snow naked making snow angels.
Wait...what? March 21, 2013 at 07:34 AM
The first photo of the fountain is absolutely beautiful. The color contrast between the trees, the statue, the sky, and the snow is perfect, and the angle is just right. I really like that one, and thank you for sharing it (and the rest) on the Patch! I have never been able to take a good photo, much less an artistic one. (Actually, I do have one photo I took in Germany that is rather good. I generally don't reveal the technique I used to shoot it, but it's called, "Accidentally Snapping a Photo While Bending Over to Pick Up Dropped Car Keys".) But I truly do like yours. To me, that first photo embodies the hope of, and faith in, the renewal of life during the coming Spring. Happy Vernal Equinox and a Joyful Spring to all!
