"It's a sad night for the Osterndorf family," said Michelle Sriubas, Vice Chair of the New Canaan Republican Town Committee.

Osterndorf , his wife, two children, brother and extended family and friends spent the day greeting voters in front of New Canaan High School and Saxe, as well as at Darien's six polling places.  His 14-year-old son Johnny returned from his post in Darien just as the polls were closing.  "People were really polite," he said.  "We learned a lot about campaigning and what it takes behind the scenes.  It was really interesting."
