State Audit Includes New Canaan Voting Machines
Ten percent of state districts were chosen at random for a hand count of votes in Nov. 8 municipal election to ensure that new electronic voting machines are operating properly.
New Canaan's Districts 1 and 2, which are considered as one for the purposes of municipal elections, are among 73 districts selected by the secretary of state for a voting audit to ensure electronic voting machine accuracy, according to an announcement posted on the New Canaan Advertiser by Republican Registrar Robert Shafter.
“The primary purpose of the hand count audit is to assess how well the , i.e., the tabulators, functioned in an actual election and to ensure that votes cast using these tabulators are counted properly and accurately,” the announcement states.
