Town Council Approves Bonding For Roof Repairs

The funding will be used for new roofs at all four facilities, in addition to new windows, lintels and parapets for the police department.

Following , the on Oct. 19 approved $1.3 million in bonding to rehabilitate several town buildings, including the Education Building, Nature Center Visitor's Center, , and .

The funding will be used for new roofs at all four facilities, in addition to new windows, lintels and parapets for the police department.

As per a report in the New Canaan News, Town Councilman Paul Foley cast the lone dissenting vote against the resolution, saying he was not opposed to the projects, but is opposed to borrowing to fund them.

The roofs will reportedly be replaced with synthetic slate, which lasts significantly longer than asphalt.

Bids will go out in the spring and the Town hopes to have the work completed by October 2012.
