Welcome Your New Editor of New Canaan Patch

Sheryl Shaker comes on-board as the next member of our team.

It is with great pleasure I am introducing the new editor of New Canaan Patch -- Sheryl Shaker!

Shaker  comes to Patch after several years of journalistic accomplishments across many different mediums including print and television. She is a long-time resident of New Canaan and has raised three children in town. No stranger to the issues and vital topics facing New Canaan residents, Shaker will be a committed member of Patch, bringing you the latest breaking news and updates from around town.

Sheryl is no stranger to small towns or big news.  She grew up in Shelburne, Vermont and worked her way down the Hudson, attending Bard College en route to NYU, from which she graduated with a BA in Journalism.  Shaker edited and wrote for a number of national magazines, including Redbook, Rolling Stone and Car & Driver before joining the CBS Television Network, working first at CBS Sports and then at CBS News, where she produced hard news and feature pieces.  She left CBS to raise a family in New Canaan, and has kept busy writing, producing and doing marketing and business development as well.  She's worked for and volunteered at a number of local not-for-profits, served on a few Boards and will bring her varied perspective to editing her hometown Patch.

In the year Patch has been in New Canaan, we've become a trusted and valued news source to New Canaanites. From our founding editor, Amy Jeffries, to me, we are thankful for all our loyal readers and dedicated fans. Many of our stories have been improved and strengthened by your feedback and insight. Please keep your comments coming!

I will still be in Fairfield County, as I take the steps toward launching Norwalk Patch. You may occasionally see me in New Canaan from time to time as I help out with breaking news coverage and other events.

Thank you, New Canaan, for giving me such a warm welcome in such a short amount of time! It is because of your hospitality and interest that Patch has become the successful news outlet it is today.

Please join me in extending the same welcome to Sheryl -- your newest editor in the Patch family!
