Niche Summer Camp Opportunities

Cooking Classes and a Songwriting and Lyrics course at the Outback this summer!

As the school year comes to a close, the Outback Teen Center is trying to find the best way to keep kids engaged and continue to provide a safe space for social engagement and enrichment opportunities throughout the summer.  In order to do so, the Outback wants to provide unique opportunities for students, that they cannot get elsewhere.

When Neena Perez of the Kiddie Kitchen in Norwalk reached out, she presented an offer the Outback could not refuse.  Of all of the summer camp opportunities in the area, none are cooking camps.  Here and there, summer classes are provided for people of all ages, but nothing that was just cooking just for teens.

Born was the Outback Summer Cooking Camp.  Throughout the month of July, we will offer 4 one-week sessions for various age groups covering a variety of food types.  From Brunch to International Foods to Knife Skills, there's something of interest for everyone!  You can find more information on our website here.

In addition, in a partnership with Greenwich Education Group, the Outback will offer a specialized course, The Write Stuff - your guide to lyrics, songwriting and more!

Starting on July 8, this 4 week course focuses on the basics of song structure, rhyming, idea progression in songs, and the importance of a title.  The course will be taught by Paul Streitz, the lyricist for two off-Broadway musicals that have been produced in New York and London.  Currently, he is the director of the Darien Film Company and continues to write and produce as a freelancer.  See more about this unique opportunity here.
