Book Signing: Award-Winning Screenwriter Takes Jab at Downton Abbey
Billy Frolick will be signing copies of his new parody, “Downtrodden Abbey."
In addition to being a best-selling author, Frolick is an award-winning screenwriter whose credits include DreamWorks Animation's “Madagascar.” He wrote “Downtrodden Abbey” under the nom de plume Gillian Fetlocks. Published by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin's Press, the book satirizes PBS's hugely successful TV series “Downton Abbey,” winner of the 2012 Emmy Award for Best Movie or Mini-Series, which just concluded its fourth season.
The story follows the scheming aristocratic Crawfish family and their equally unethical staff of butlers, maids, chauffeurs and cooks.
Frolick, who lives in South Salem, teaches Screenwriting at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and is the author of four previous parodies, beginning with the 1994 bestseller “The Ditches of Edison County.” His journalism and humor essays have appeared in The New Yorker, the Los Angeles Times and Entertainment Weekly. Books will be available for purchase. For more information, call Elm Street Books at 203 966 4545.
