WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Event Date: March 2, 2013 from 9:00AM to 1:00PM

Being able to write well is a powerful career advantage.  Writing is a critical part of every job, yet corporate executives consistently say that the biggest failing among job applicants, as well as current employees, is their inability to write effectively.

Every email, formal proposal and PowerPoint presentation showcases how you think.  So it’s important to make everything you write clear, direct and well-organized.

If writing doesn’t come easily to you, or you want to hone your skills, this workshop taught by a professional business trainer will give you tips, techniques and best practices that you can apply immediately to be a stronger and better writer.

During this four hour workshop, we will review the fundamentals of successful business writing, from thoughtful organization in draft stages to completing a final document.  You will learn how to approach any writing assignment, and how to be more positive and action-oriented.  We will also review techniques for using editing and email as effective business tools.  Throughout, there will be exercises that strengthen logic, word choices and writing styles.

Topics To Be Covered:

·         The Fundamentals of Powerful Writing

·         Guide to Clear Thinking and Writing

·         Editing Basics

·         Focus on Business Email & IM’s (Instant Messaging)

Bonus Features:

Participants will each create an action plan to guide their ongoing improvement.  Participants will also receive  a valuable 100 page detailed workbook and writing manual containing all topics covered during the workshop, along with additional resources that can be used for future learning and reference.

Optional One-on-Ones:

For those who want, or need, more intensive instruction to address specific writing issues, 30 minute one-on-one sessions after the group workshop can be scheduled for an additional fee of $125.  If you’re interested, you will be asked to submit two writing samples (no more than four pages in total) via email to the instructor, no later than one week prior to the workshop date; confidentiality is assured.
