The New Canaan Historical Society cordially invites you to its Annual Valentine Tea, Thursday, February 14th. During the program at 1:00 p.m. “The Victorian Lady” Kandie Carle will bring to life fashion, lifestyle, manners and etiquette of the 1860s. While dressing in actual vintage and authentically reproduced undergarments, clothing and accessories, Kandie Carle adds humor, history and intriguing anecdotes of men and women during the period. The program brings to light some of the differences as well as some of the similarities between us and our Victorian ancestors. A visual delight resplendent with wit and grace it is a refreshing view of a magnificent era in history. Ms. Carle has been working in the Theatre since 1980 as an actress, dancer and singer throughout the U.S. and abroad. Her experience covers the spectrum from Shakespeare to Musical Comedy, but her love of history, years of research and experience as a performer has culminated in the creation of her one-woman show. Since 1996, she has been touring with this program and entertaining audiences throughout New England and beyond.
