Give New Life To Old Hockey Equipment

The Tait boys, Rory, James and Charlie will hold their second annual hockey equipment donation drive on September 21st and 22nd. The 2013 Stick Exchange Donation Drive will take place at Stamford Twin Rinks, 1063 Hope Street, Stamford from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

The three young New Canaan men (15, 13 and 11-years-old) are all goalies and have played hockey as long as they can remember.  They formed The Stick Exchange with the express purpose of collecting and recycling used hockey gear to help equip disadvantaged kids who otherwise couldn’t afford to play the game. Last year, they ran their first ever donation drive, and were overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of the community and the support they received from Darien Youth Hockey Association, New Canaan Winter Club, The New York Rangers and others.

Every piece of usable donated equipment was sorted and redistributed to various youth hockey organizations in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts helping hundreds of young skaters get on the ice and enjoy the thrill of hockey. Following on from last year’s success the Tait boys are looking forward to doing it again.
