"Give Us a Dance Then"

In time for St. Patrick's Day, Music on the Hill's Jubilate Ringers will present a concert of Celtic songs and dances arranged for handbells.  The program includes traditional favorites ("Danny Boy," "Shenandoah," "The Prayer" and more) as well as the premiere of a suite of Celtic dances composed by Music on the Hill Artistic Director David H. Connell.  Connell's suite, "Give Us a Dance Then," includes the jigs, reels, and waltzes that comprise a traditional ceili, an evening of celebration with dancing.  (Downton Abbey viewers saw the Scottish equivalent in Season 3.)  With thirteen ringers, over 100 handbells, and these spirited dances, audience members will be tempted to kick up their heels!  (And, yes, you can make a handbell drone like a bagpipe!)  Tickets:  $20 at the door or reserve in advance at tickets@musiconthehillct.org.
