Pack 22 Fishing Derby

200 Trout in the Wilton Y Kiwanis Pond

Saturday April 26

Wilton:  Cub Scout Pack 22, with contributions from the Wilton Family Y, the Wilton Fishing Club, and Trout Unlimited will present a fishing derby at the Y’s Kiwanis Pond on Saturday, April 26. 

It is open to all ages and abilities with no fishing license needed. More than 200 rainbow and brook trout will be stocked in the pond by Rowledge Pond Aquaculture from Sandy Hook.

·         6:30-7:30 a.m. special fly fishing hours

·         7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bait and lure fishing

·          5-7 p.m. Fly fishing hours and instruction by TU and Orvis

Bait may be purchased at the derby, and Wilton Fishing Club volunteers will provide a gutting service for those wanting to take their catch home. Participants are encouraged to bring their own poles and gear, although a limited number of rods will be available to borrow. 

Prizes will be awarded in several categories and representatives from Orvis and Trout Unlimited will offer lessons.

The derby will be held rain or shine. Admission for age 6 and under is free, $8 for ages 7-18, $12 for ages 18-plus, families $25. Participants can pay upon entry at the pond gate and come and go throughout the open hours
