CARES Presents “Helping Your Child Find Success in School and Life" Community Event September 21, 2011
New Canaan CARES invites all parents to attend a discussion with internationally recognized psychologist, author and school consultant Michael G. Thompson, Ph.D. at 7:00 pm on September 21, 2011 in the Saxe Middle School auditorium.

Dr. Thompson has authored and co-authored eight books including “The Pressured Child: Freeing Our Kids from Performance Overdrive and Helping Them Find Success in School and Life”(with Teresa Barker, Ballantine, 2004) and “Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys” (with Dan Kinlon, Ballantine, 1999). Additionally, he has consulted with more than 500 schools in the U.S. and abroad and appeared on The Today Show, The Early Show, Good Morning America and Oprah. He has also been quoted in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Time and U.S. News and World Report and has been a guest on NPR's "Talk of the Nation".

More than ever, children and teens are faced with the pressures of success and notoriety. At the presentation, Dr. Thompson will talk to parents about their children’s life in school and engage them on how they can best support their children along the way.
