Viva Chile! Art Fundraiser for Red Cross Relief

PD Gallery at Performance Dance is pleased to announce a new art showing entitled VIVA CHILE! a fundraiser to benefit The American Red Cross for the Chilean Earthquake Relief Fund.  The art fundraiser will be open to the public the weekend of April 9- 11, 2010 with hours Friday from 6 – 8:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 2 – 5 PM.  The art show will feature photography by PD Gallery's current artist Kristen Macauley and will also showcase the artwork of local CT artists and past artists of PD Gallery. Working in conjunction with the Norwalk's Regional American Red Cross, "We wanted to collaborate with talented local artists to boost to our donation potential.  Several months ago, Performance Dance led a very successful movement fundraiser for Haiti and we wanted to capture that momentum through another art medium," said Ms. Spring.  "Former PD gallery artists have whole heartedly endorsed our fundraiser, and as well the Rental Partners of Performance Dance, and are helping us spread the word to raise money for VIVA CHILEand the American Red Cross.

Hayden Spring, PD Gallery's curator, "PD Gallery is very excited to present Kristen's newest photographic works highlighting both the urban glamour and grit of New York. Her work reveals the mystery and hidden beauty in our everyday lives. This most recent collection of black and white prints as well as color photographs features unique and atmospheric views of familiar New York City sights." The photographs were captured with a Holga ‑‑ a plastic camera favored by photographers for its characteristic light leaks and low-fidelity aesthetics.  Kristen is based in Westchester County, NY, and divides her work between fine art and portrait photography.  More information about Kristen can be found at www.bellaphoto.biz.
