The New Canaan Police Department, and two officers in particular, have been cited by AAA for "outstanding traffic safety programs that include active mature driver improvement and parent/teen driving programs; and teen presentations on distracted driving, among other initiatives."
Officers Dan Gulino and Rex Sprosta were department-nominated as Traffic Safety Heroes and certified as AAA Driving Improvement Instructors.
The awards were handed out at AAA's 4th Annual Community Traffic Safety Awards lunch at Marisa's Trumbull.
