The
United Methodist Church of New Canaan kicks off their new school year with
Rally Day on Sunday, September 9th. This year’s theme, “Many Parts
One Body,” refers to the scripture of Corinthians, and the interpretation that
each person in the church is like a puzzle piece – important and necessary to
complete the whole. Church members will take this time to renew their faithful
excited to begin another year of mission and ministry.
The
Sunday School children and the UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief)
begin the season by creating school kits for children in Haiti. They recognize
that they are puzzle pieces in the church community but also in the global
community, too. While many in our area are fortunate enough to have school
supplies, there are children elsewhere that do not. On Rally Day, everyone is
encouraged to participate in the mission by donating school supplies,
including: blunt scissors, pads of paper, rulers, unsharpened pencils and
24-count boxes of crayons.
Following
10 a.m. service, Church members will enjoy the festivities coordinated by the
Membership and Evangelism Committee. Hot dogs, hamburgers and a day filled with
fellowship and fun! Activities include: the ever popular moon bounce, face
painting, clowns, lawn games, and bubble station.
Rally
Day is a wonderful event for adults and children! The UMC of NC encourages
everyone in the New Canaan community to attend and join the festivities!
