Don't Miss: 11-Cent Cup Night at Baskin-Robbins in Memory of Mikey Czech

If you're looking for a great deal on ice cream and want to help support a local charitable cause, tonight, Friday, September 6, is 11-cent Cup Night in memory of Mikey Czech at New Canaan's Baskin-Robbins on Main Street.

James Michael "Mikey" Czech was a regular at the ice cream shop when he was diagnosed on January 6, 2008—the day of his 11th birthday—with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), an aggressive and inoperable brain tumor.  Owner Anna Valente-Krolikowski, knew Czech well and would travel to NYU once a month bringing him ice cream. He passed away September 7, 2008

Now, the store hosts 11-cent cup night as a way to help raise funds for the Mikey Czech Foundation, which is dedicated to pediatric brain tumor research.

"It's all to help the foundation," said Baskin-Robbins employee Liana Lowman. "It's to help find a cure for children's cancer. We usually get 100 to 200 people through here [during the event.]"

The event runs from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. when the store closes. So if you want a sweet treat for a good cause, head to 103 Main Street and help keep the memory and battle of Mikey Czech alive.
