Congressman Jim Himes was awarded the 2012 Paul E. Tsongas Economic Patriot Award by the non-partisan Concord Coalition for his work on fiscal responsibility and support of the bi-partisan Simpson-Bowles plan to reduce the deficit by $4 trillion in a responsible way.
Called a hero by USA Today for joining the 37 other Republican and Democrat House members known as the “Brave 38” also honored, Jim has once again proven his commitment to lowering the deficit and willingness to work “across the aisle” to address the long-term challenges facing America.
Congratulations and thank you Jim.
Jim Himes works to keep this free-trade hollowing out of our economy continuing today, exporting our nation's engines of wealth-creation, as well as our GDP, tax base, and opportunities for the next generation, not to mention killing the many additional multiplier-effect jobs that would have been created if mfg stayed in the USA. Now Mr. Himes is ready for the next step of selling out America's workers and future for the enrichment of the rich: dismantling Social Security. Eliminating the $110,200 income cap on SS taxes would solve most of the SS "shortfall;" the rest could be covered with a Financial Transactions Tax on short-term stock buying and selling. But Mr Himes is just another corporate tool like Erskine Bowles, "Social Security's Enemy #1": http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/sep/10/erskine-bowles-wall-street-influence-washington http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/sep/10/erskine-bowles-wall-street-influence-washington We see how the rich have bought Congress, the Dems and Repubs are indistinguishable, this election is a sham.
