NCYF Opens 2013 Season with Jamboree Weekend

New Canaan Youth Football kicked off the 2013 season this past weekend with jamborees held throughout Fairfield County. Boys from 3rd through 8th grade put on the pads and helmets to scrimmage contemporaries from neighboring towns.

The formats for these events mirror that of NCHS, which held its jamboree on Saturday. Each team is given 15 minutes on offense and defense. The line of scrimmage is the 35 yard-line. After the 30 minutes of play, the teams switch in round-robin fashion until no more than 4 games are played, essentially simulating a “real” game.

The teams do not keep score and the games have zero impact on standings. With that said, the scrimmages are a great way for players and coaches alike to experience game action.
