Why join the Dance Club? Our newest members give some reasons...

Mike and Paula Spremulli decided to join the New Canaan Dance Club after they were invited to attend with a group of friends from the New Canaan United Methodist church.  They are self-employed entrepreneurs involved in several facets of the music industry and are both avid music lovers.  They’re in their early forties with a couple of small children, and they rarely have the opportunity to get out without the kids and spend quality time together doing something they both enjoy – so they decided to join the Club and commit to a great night out a few times a year.

Mike says, “I’ve been playing drums professionally for more than 25 years.  So it’s rare that I have the opportunity to get out from behind the drum set and dance with my wife.”

Paula is glad he has found a way to do it!  “I have enjoyed dancing from the time I was a young girl growing up in Argentina.  The dance club gives me the opportunity to enjoy many different genres in a fun and social environment.  It’s something we look forward to doing.  It gives us the opportunity to dress up a bit and spend a fun time with good friends, as well as meet new ones.  The music styles are varied and there’s really no pressure if you don’t ‘know the moves.’  At one dance last year, there was a Tango instructor on hand to demonstrate and teach us this beautiful Argentinian art form!”

The Club’s first event, on September 14, won’t involve tango – but it will be a great opportunity for Paula and Mike, and their old and new friends, to get together at a New Canaan landmark, the Carriage Barn at Waveny.  They’ll be enjoying drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and dancing to the music of Anthony Radice and the Street Life Band, from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Tickets for the evening are $125 per couple, including food and drinks. The club is inviting prospective members to come and see what it’s all about.  If you are interested, please go to the club’s web site at newcanaandanceclub.vpweb.com.  Click on the “Contact Us” link, give us your information, and someone will call you back.
