U13 Girls Red Soccer Team: "A" Division Champions of SW District after Undefeated Season

Over the weekend of November 9 and 10th, the U13 Girls Red Soccer Team Coached by Barry Beattie won the Divison A Southwest District Championship. The team entered the playoffs last Saturday as the number one seed after their undefeated season. The team took the field Saturday morning in Westport to face the Stamford Hurricanes in the Semi-final game, a team they had not played yet this season. The U13 Girls Red defeated the Hurricanes 2-0.

The team returned to Westport on Sunday to face Darien Blue in the Southwest District Finals. The Darien Blue squad opened the game scoring a goal off a direct kick just outside the penalty area.  But the New Canaan U13 Girls Red fought hard and came back scoring a goal 1 minute into the second half followed by the game winner with 20 minutes left to play, beating Darien Blue 2-1.  The win earned the girls an undefeated league season and the Division A Southwest District Championship.  The team finished their season with 30 goals scored for NC and only 5 goals against, never ceding more than 1 goal in any game.
