A Wolf will follow Little Red Riding Hood to the New Canaan Historical Society on January 12

Come to an informative and entertaining live wolf program at the New Canaan Historical Society on January 12th. Don't forget your cameras!

In connection with the New Canaan Historical Society’s newest exhibit, Seeing Red: Little Red Riding Hood Visits the New Canaan Historical Society, the Society is proud to present an informative and entertaining live wolf program.  On January 12, 2013 at 3pm the Wolf Conservation Center will discuss the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and bring their oldest ambassador wolf, a beautiful arctic wolf named Atka, to the Society located at 13 Oenoke Ridge Road in New Canaan.

Adults and children will marvel at Atka while learning about the history of wolves and why this time of year is a special time for wolf packs in North America.  Come discover how wolf families search out prey and how their pups prepare for their first winter season.  Atka is a beautiful wolf who loves to meet people, and, as a great "wolf teacher," he will educate all of us on the importance of his wild "brothers and sisters"! Tickets to attend the program are $10, or continue the fun and visit the exhibit too for the cost of $13.  Call 203-966-1776 to make your
reservations today and don’t forget your cameras!

Visit the Seeing Red:Little Red Riding Hood Visits the New Canaan Historical Society exhibition and you will be transported back in time, following the path that Little Red took through town and into the shadowy woods to her grandmother’s cottage.  Along the way you will be delighted by Peggy Rice’s sizeable collection of Little Red Riding Hood memorabilia.   As revealed in her book, The Peggy Rice Collection of Little Red Riding Hoods, II, Rice’s collection has amazing depth and variety, and includes advertisements, paintings, film, household items, toys, music and more.  Children and adults alike will have fun spotting Rice’s charming collectibles throughout the exhibition, while they enjoy an enchantingly delightful show. The exhibition remains on display through March 1, 2013.  Exhibition hours are 10am–4pm Tuesday–Friday, and 10am–12pm on Saturdays.  Admission to the exhibition is $5.  For additional details please visit www.nchistory.org  or call 203-966-1776.

The New Canaan Historical Society would like to thank the exhibition’s sponsors, Impala Asset Management, Rick Crolla, OD of New Canaan Eye Associates, Paul D. Harbottle, DDS, LLC, Dann Hearing Center, Rubicon Seven, Prudence Parris and Inger Stringfellow of Sotheby’s International Realty, Mr. Robert Perkin, PMorgan Chase Bank, Hoyt Livery and the Board of Governors of the New Canaan Historical Society.  The Society seeks to educate and enlighten the public in an atmosphere that is welcoming, friendly and fun by offering innovative educational

Where DIDN'T you learn to write?? Jane Himmel May 22, 2013 at 01:27 pm "This has CONVINCED MYRead More GROWING CONVICTION that Patch has moved complete..."

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

Tom, the tree warden doesn't just "put in trees and take them down" just like that. ThereRead More is a reason behind every tree that has come down or gone up. Whats with this town and trees anyway? It seems like a huge source of controversy...they are TREES.

if they had done it at night at least it wouldn't have been smudged. BUT, i happen to think itsRead More nice, and especially with the flags hanging. we forget we are a small new england town, and small things like the red white and blue stripes remind me that we still are! :)
