Emma Randel, 99, Former New Canaanite

Calling hours: 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 29, followed by a 6 p.m. funeral service at Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St., Seymour.

Mrs. Emma Jeannette (Cable) Randel, age 99, of Hamden and formerly of New Canaan, beloved wife of the late John “Jack” Curtis Randel, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at her sister’s home where she resided.

She was born on September 26, 1914 in Oxford and was the daughter of the late Nelson M. and Cora (Bonnett) Cable. She grew up in Oxford and later moved to New Canaan with her loving husband, where she spent most of her life there. Mrs. Randel worked as a private duty nurse before she married in 1938.

She is survived by her devoted sister, Audrey C. Linke of Hamden, four grandchildren, Amy Guss (Stephen) Campbell of MD, Helena Randel (Earl) Schneider of LA, Sean (Shelly) Michaud of TX and Randel “Randy” (Heather) Guss of CA and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves her daughter in law, Marie Randel of FL, her sister in law, Margaret Cable of PA, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by daughter, Joanne Jensen, son, Jeffrey Cable Randel, son in laws, Donald Guss and William Jensen, brother, E. Robert Cable, sister, Alice Cable Birdsey, brother in laws, Edward Birdsey and Raymond Linke and sister in law, Dorothy Tracy Cable.    

Family and friends may call on Saturday, March 29 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service to follow at 5:30 p.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour.
