Kenneth A. Pinder, 81, a lifelong New Canaan resident died peacefully Thursday February 7, 2013 in Norwalk Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Norwalk June 1, 1931 he was the son of the late Kenneth Whiteford Plowman and Carlita Weed Pinder.
Ken entered the US Navy in 1951 serving until 1954, stationed at the US Naval Minecraft Base in Charleston, South Carolina. A Veteran, Ken was a 50 year active member of the New Canaan Volunteer Fire Department. He worked for Home Oil of New Canaan for 35 years. Ken grew up on Nursery Road in a traditional farmhouse, his great grandparents being one of the first families to settle in New Canaan. He attended New Canaan schools, including the former Center School. Ken was an avid fisherman, and both Yankees and Giants fan.
Ken especially enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. Most recently, Ken was a resident of the Schoolhouse Apartments for the past 15 years, residing in his high school homeroom classroom.
Ken is survived by his former wife Theresa Socci Pinder (Tessie) , one son, Kenneth Joseph Pinder, two daughters, Carlita Socci Jordan and Charlene Socci Petrucci, three grandchildren, Kristen Theresa Jordan, Ralph Jay Jordan, Theresa Antoinette Petrucci, and one great grandson Devyn John Dupee all of New Canaan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday February 13, 2013 at St Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT at 1:30pm with Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM
