Nicholas J. Carlino Jr., 85; Longtime New Canaan Resident Who Worked for City of Stamford


Nicholas J. Carlino Jr., a New Canaan resident for over 42 years died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was 85.

Born in Stamford, Nov. 16, 1928 he was the son of the late Nicholas and Lillian Quell Carlino Sr.

Nicholas was the husband of Rose Ann Paternostro Carlino they were married for 45 years. 

Nick worked for the City of Stamford for 39 years in both the Highway and Maintenance Departments. He had been a member of the Turn of River Volunteer Fire Department. Nick was a past Grand Knight of the Fr. John Stapleton Council #2287 of the Knights of Columbus in New Canaan. 

In addition to his wife Rose, he is survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and James Maher of Eastchester, NY Many nieces and nephews also survive. 

Nick was predeceased by his brother Roger Carlino and his sister Katherine. 

Friends may call at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan on Saturday, May 10, from 2 to 6 p.m. 

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday May 12, at 10 a.m. in St Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan.
