Five Decadent Ice Cream Desserts In and Around New Canaan

Indulge your sweet tooth with a bite of one of these treats.

With temperatures soaring into the high 90's this week, now is the perfect time take a break from the beach and chill out with one of these cold and colossal desserts.

Here are five frozen treats for you to enjoy this summer.

  • The Brownie Deluxe at  — New Canaan

Grab your friends or family and head to Gates for a goblet-sized serving of their brownie deluxe — a warm chocolate brownie covered with cool vanilla ice cream, smothered with hot fudge and topped off with whipped cream. This dessert is definitely made for more than one spoon!

  • Frozen Hot Chocolate at  — South Norwalk

Imagine an award winning chocolatier preparing the perfect cup of hot chocolate — only frozen. That's exactly what you'll get at Chocopologie by Knipschildt Chocolatier. Their rich, signature hot chocolate is blended with ice for a refreshing twist on the cold weather classic. To kick this beverage up a notch, ask for the spiced chocolate version.

  • Banana Split at  — New Canaan

You can't go wrong with an old-fashioned banana split, especially with the retro malt shop ambiance of New Canaan Diner. Dig into three scoops of ice cream, one chocolate, one vanilla, and one strawberry, a whole banana, strawberry halves, whipped cream, sprinkles and, of course, a cherry on top.

  • Super-Soldier Sundae at  — New Canaan

This superhero-sized sundae is inspired by Captain America himself. Celebrate the movie's premiere on Friday, July 22 with a cup of super-soldier swirl ice cream topped with moist white cake, a rich strawberry topping, whipped cream, a cherry and star-spangled sprinkles for a flavorful salute.

  • Razzles at  — Darien

Gofer is consistently voted as one of the best ice cream shops around, and one of their most popular treats, Razzles, might be one good reason why. Take their premium soft serve ice cream or frozen yogurt and mix it thoroughly with any topping combination of your choice. With oreo, cookie dough, Heath bar, Snickers, peanut butter cup, brownie dough pieces and dozens of other topping options, the flavor possibilities are endless.

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.
