Kudos on the Appointment of Kathleen Corbet

New Canaan Republican Town Committee Treasurer voices support.

I support and the Board of Selectman’s decision to hire Ms. Kathleen Corbet as a consultant to the Town to assist in the current budget process, review implementation of best practices and accounting policy restructure recommended by the Town Council Lakeview Avenue Bridge Subcommittee.

Kathleen Corbet’s credentials are admirable. As a Certified Public Accountant in the financial community I agree as our First Selectman stated: “that no one has her New Canaan – Centric knowledge”

Ms. Corbet’s experience(es) with the Board of Finance, budget and bonding process and development of “ best practices” is an irreplaceable asset to the town’s financial processes.

Our Town Treasurer Don Hersam was involved with the appointment process and present at the meetings. He has stated that he is delighted with the appointment of Ms. Corbet as a financial consultant.

Additional “Kudos” to our First Selectman and Board of Selectman for being successful to negotiate such a large “haircut” in the hourly fee that a professional of Ms. Corbet’s caliber and with Ms. Corbet’s credentials  would require.

This is an excellent bi-partisan decision. Partisan political opinions have no place in this endeavor.

Our First Selectman and Board of Selectman have accomplished a “win-win” for New Canaan.
