$15K Ring, $12K Watch Stolen from Indian Rock Road Home

Police are investigating a trio of home burglaries in March as they urge residents to activate alarms.

Police are urging New Canaan residents to activate alarm systems whenever they’re away from home as they investigate a third residential burglary in town—this one including the reported theft of a $12,000 watch and $15,000 ring.

At 10:44 a.m. on March 29, a 61-year-old Indian Rock Road man said he returned from a two-week vacation to find his home in disarray and his Bilco basement doors open.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrince of the New Canaan Police Department items reported missing from the home and their values include:

  • Imari Asian bowl and plate ($500 apiece)
  • Razor golf clubs ($1,500)
  • Jaeger-Lecoultre moonface watch ($12,000)
  • Gold platinum wedding ring with baquette diamonds ($15,000)

Also stolen from the home was an entire safe, which had “a few thousand dollars” in cash in it, Ogrinc said.

The apparent burglary follows the thefts—also around mid-March—of jewelry and electronics from homes on Long Lots and North Wilton Roads.

According to a police press release: “Residents can contact the police department at 203-594-3500, if they plan to be out-of-town for a week or more, and their residence will be placed on a list to be checked by officers. Residents should report all suspicious persons or vehicles to the New Canaan Police Department at 203-594-3500 or if it is an emergency via 911.”
