A 19-year-old Stamford man faces drug and interfering charges following the arrival of police at a March 5 three-car accident scene below the Talmadge Hill train lot.
Eric Hagendoorn was charged with possession of marijuana (less than four ounces), possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with an officer.
Police were called to Old Stamford Road/Route 106 and Talmadge Hill Road at about 6:34 p.m. on a report of the accident at the busy intersection.
There, police found Hagendoorn inside a car and smelled marijuana. The department’s K-9 unit was on scene and additional burnt marijuana cigarettes and a glass smoking pipe were found in the center console, according to Lt. Vince DeMaio of the New Canaan Police Department.
During the booking process, Hagendoorn said he wasn’t driving the car at the time of the accident, DeMaio said.
“He claimed that another individual was the driver, and after some investigation that proved to be true,” DeMaio said.
Police are investigating that piece of the incident.
Hagendoorn was released on $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear March 6 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
