Former Darien Selectman's Sons Among 5 Charged in Turkey Bowl Urine Mischief

Five former Darien High School students have been charged with criminal mischief in connection with urine found on New Canaan team equipment at the Darien-New Canaan Turkey Bowl game on Thanksgiving.

Five men—including two sons of former Darien First Selectwoman Evonne Klein and Democratic Town Chairman Randy Klein—have been arrested in connection with the infamous urination incident during the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Bowl.

New Canaan High School football team equipment was vandalized in a Darien High locker room during the annual game.

All five of the arrestees are former Darien High School students.

A backpack containing $20 was also stolen in the incident. One of the five arrestees, Michael Klein, 21, of 19 Salt Box Ln., was charged with sixth-degree larceny.

Darien police Monday afternoon announced the arrests of these three other Darien residents and one from Stamford:

  • Gregory Klein, same age and address as Michael Klein
  • Kevin Green,  22, 30 Lynn Ct., Darien
  • William Canning, 21, 12 Edgehill Rd., Darien
  • Rocco Colandro, 21, 66 Hoyclo Rd., Stamford

Police arrested each on warrants, and each was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespass.

A New Canaan High School football player informed police about the incident, which occurred in the girls' locker room, during the game, Darien police said. The same player told police the backpack was missing.

Police worked with school officials to review video surveillance tapes near the entrance to the locker room

Each of the five men were released on a promise to appear Jan. 7 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
