Former Darien Selectman's Sons Among 5 Charged in Turkey Bowl Urine Mischief

Five former Darien High School students have been charged with criminal mischief in connection with urine found on New Canaan team equipment at the Darien-New Canaan Turkey Bowl game on Thanksgiving.

Five men—including two sons of former Darien First Selectwoman Evonne Klein and Democratic Town Chairman Randy Klein—have been arrested in connection with the infamous urination incident during the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Bowl.

New Canaan High School football team equipment was vandalized in a Darien High locker room during the annual game.

All five of the arrestees are former Darien High School students.

A backpack containing $20 was also stolen in the incident. One of the five arrestees, Michael Klein, 21, of 19 Salt Box Ln., was charged with sixth-degree larceny.

Darien police Monday afternoon announced the arrests of these three other Darien residents and one from Stamford:

  • Gregory Klein, same age and address as Michael Klein
  • Kevin Green,  22, 30 Lynn Ct., Darien
  • William Canning, 21, 12 Edgehill Rd., Darien
  • Rocco Colandro, 21, 66 Hoyclo Rd., Stamford

Police arrested each on warrants, and each was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespass.

A New Canaan High School football player informed police about the incident, which occurred in the girls' locker room, during the game, Darien police said. The same player told police the backpack was missing.

Police worked with school officials to review video surveillance tapes near the entrance to the locker room

Each of the five men were released on a promise to appear Jan. 7 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

New Canaan hockey players are better off playing at Sono, Ridgefield or Stamford Youth Hockey.
