Burglary of Silverware, Jewelry Reported in New Canaan

New Canaan authorities are investigating a burglary in town in which jewelry and a $5,000 silverware dinner set was stolen.

According to police, a Carter Street home was broken into through a rear sliding glass door. The interior of the home was ransacked, police said, and in addition to the $5,000 dinner set, a number of jewelry items were missing, though police had not yet received a list or appraisal for the missing items.

Authorities said, though the items were reported stolen on September 24 at 10:45 a.m., there was about a week-long timeframe where the theft could have occurred. The incident remains under investigation.
