Charges Pending after Accident on Ponus Ridge

Police say they expect to charge a 21-year-old Stamford man with driving under the influence.

 

Charges are pending for a 21-year-old Stamford man who is suspected of drunk driving in a Jan. 22 accident on the western edge of town, police say.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department, the man was driving three 19-year-old males—two from Stamford and one from Cos Cob—southbound on Ponus Ridge when he lost control near Dan’s Highway and struck a guardrail on the opposite side of the road.

The accident was reported at 10:18 p.m., she said.

Before all four were transported to Norwalk Hospital, Ogrinc said, police arrived on scene and determined that the motorist likely had been drinking. The injuries were not life-threatening, she said.
